The Unaka Rangers opened up the Carter County Sports Hall of Fame Holiday Tournament with a win over Hampton in the boys Jr. Varsity
division.
Logan Lewis led the Rangers in scoring with 16 points hitting three treys and Austin Lambert followed with 12 also connecting on a long
shot.
Troy Berry led Hampton with 11 points while Tyler Blevins scored nine.

Both teams scored four points in the first but Unaka went on an 11-5 run in the second for a 15-9 halftime lead.  Unaka got six points from
Big John Hardin in the third quarter putting 16 points up to the Bulldogs six points.

Hampton would outscore Unaka in the final period but came up short 36-26.

Cloudland beat Little Milligan in the second game 38-17.
The ‘Landers had nine players score with Nick Caraway leading the way with 10-points.
Bryce Fagan scored 10 points for the Buffaloes.

Johnson County had nine players score in game three winning over Unaka 54-20.
Simcox led the Longhorns with 11, Greer and Dickens both scored eight points. Unaka was led by B.J. Thomas with seven points.

Another JV boys game saw Johnson County beat Hunter 44-25.
Sluder was the high scorer for the Horns with 15 while Dickens scored 14.  The Tigers were led by Brynin Repass with seven points.

The East team was no match for Happy Valley as the Warriors won 45-5.
Maxwell led the Warriors with 12.  Kent followed with ten. Aiden Saxton led East with 3.

The final game of the opening day was packed with action.
It was the third meeting of the season for Hunter and Keenburg’s varsity boys with each team winning a game apiece.
Keenburg led the entire game but a late rally sent Mason Wilson to the line for two shots down by three with two seconds left in the game.
The plan was to hit the first one and miss the second, get the rebound and send the game to overtime.  The plan worked great as Wilson hit the first shot, missed the second on purpose, and Hunter got the rebound but missed the last-second shot.
Keenburg came away and advance in the double-elimination tournament with a 36-34 win.
Isaiah Lindburg led Keenburg with 15 points. The Tigers hit five three-pointers in the game from four different players.
Hunter was led by Marcus Shomaker with 12 points while Wilson followed with nine.
