EPD arrests four in kidnapping case

On May 18, officers with the Elizabethton Police Department began an investigation into a kidnapping. During the investigation, it was found that a 22-year-old male had been kidnapped, held captive, and beaten by several subjects over the course of a few days. According to the victim, he was taken to a residence on Scenic Drive in Elizabethton where he was restrained and assaulted by various means. The victim was later taken by vehicle to the Watauga Lake Overlook where, according to the victim, he believed the assailants took him there to kill him. On May 18 at 6:52 a.m., deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department located the victim on Wilbur Dam Road. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Four persons have been arrested in this case so far. They include Blake Adams (32), Brandon Kempson (36), Angela Hudson-Adams (32), and Amy Campbell (35), all residents of Elizabethton. All four subjects have been charged with aggravated kidnapping (TCA 39-13-304), and attempted first-degree murder (TCA 39-12-101). The subjects are set to have an appearance in Carter County General Sessions Court on Friday, May 24.
