VFW Post 2166 and its Auxiliary, in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank, are organizing a food distribution event aimed at assisting veterans and their families in need. The distribution is scheduled for Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m., located at the VFW Post situated at 2001 West Elk Ave., Elizabethton.
To facilitate a smooth distribution process, attendees are kindly requested to ensure that there is sufficient space in their vehicle trunks to accommodate the food box. Upon arrival at the post, participants are instructed to pop their trunks while remaining in their vehicles, as volunteers will load the food box directly into their vehicles. This measure is implemented to minimize person-to-person contact and prioritize everyone’s health and safety.
To effectively manage resources, organizers urge interested individuals to contact David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office by calling 542-1824 to sign up for the food distribution. Providing an approximate number of attendees will assist in ensuring an adequate supply of food boxes for distribution.
This initiative underscores the commitment of VFW Post 2166, its Auxiliary, and Second Harvest Food Bank to support and provide assistance to veterans and their families during times of need.
