JONESBOROUGH – A man attempting to enter the George Jaynes Justice Center with 0.50 grams of a crystal-like substance in his pocket was apprehended by deputies Monday.
Brian Riggenbach, 36, of Kingsport, walked through the metal detector at the Justice Center and deputies noticed something in the pocket of his pants. When asked he said it was a pack of cigarettes. Deputies asked him to remove the pack from his pants and observed a baggie containing a crystal-like substance. When asked to put his hands behind his back, Riggenbach sprinted out of the front doors of the Justice Center.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies apprehended Riggenbach in the parking lot of a nearby business after a brief foot chase and transported him to the nearby Washington County Detention Center. He is charged with possession of methamphetamine, simple possession/casual exchange and evading arrest. Riggenbach is being held on a $1,000 bond and will appear in Sessions Court on April 25.
