It’s time for the finale.
Johnson City’s Down Home will host the semester’s final performances by student bands from East Tennessee State University’s Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies programs tonight, Thursday and Friday.
Traditional music from bluegrass, old time, country and Celtic student bands in the ETSU studies program will be on the schedule.
The ETSU program was founded in 1982 by Jack Tottle. It is the oldest established program of its kind at any four-year institution, and offers the world’s first bachelor of arts degree in Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies.
Throughout the program’s history, student bands have performed across the United States and abroad, and have shared the stage with such bluegrass and country music luminaries as Alison Krauss, Del McCoury, Dan Tyminski, Ralph Stanley, Ricky Skaggs and many others.
Down Home is at 300 W. Main St. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door, and may also be purchased in advance at Down Home or by calling ETSU Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies at 439-7072.
