State Rep. Kent Williams was honored recently by the Tennessee General Assembly for his service to the state in the House of Representatives. Williams, who represents House District 4 (Unicoi County and part of Carter County), is retiring from the House this year after serving four terms.
“This has been the greatest honor of my life, serving the people of my district in the House of Representatives,” said Williams. “Over my eight years of service, I have been able to serve my constituents in a number of different ways, and it has been a pleasure to represent them. I think over these years, we have accomplished a great number of things that make this state a better place to live, work, raise a family, and run a business. I’m proud of that work, and I sincerely thank the people of Carter and Unicoi Counties allowing me to be their voice.”
He continued, “I enjoyed my time as speaker of the house and considered it a huge honor to serve in that role. I’ve been fortunate to experience a wide range of state government: the Joint Legislative Services Committee, the Joint Diabetes Prevention Committee, the House Business and Utilities Committee, the House State Government Committee, and more. I have had the opportunity to meet with some very passionate and honorable Tennesseans, and I appreciate the friendships I’ve made. I look forward to the next chapter, and again, thank the people in my district for allowing me to serve them in the House of Representatives, and a special thank you to Deputy Speaker Steve McDaniel and Majority Leader Gerald McCormick for their sponsorship of the resolution.”
