Janeta Hilliard, 72, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center with her loving husband, daughter and son-in-law by her side.

She was born in Big Rock, Va., to the late Don and Ocie Cantrell. She was a graduate of Grundy Sr. High School. Janeta was a diligent homemaker, faithful wife, loving mother and Mammaw.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sammy Cantrell.

Janeta is survived by her husband, Tom Hilliard, as well as her daughter, Candy Campbell and husband, Dale, all of Hampton, Tenn. She was a loving mother and Mammaw to her only grandchildren, Hayden and Dylan Campbell. She loved watching both her grandsons play ball and was their No. 1 fan. She was a huge UK fan just like her dad. Go Wildcats!

She is also survived by her sisters, Lou Ellen Owens and her husband, Lonnie, of Grundy, Va., and Mary Looney and her husband, Gary (deceased), of Tazewell, Va.; brother, Danny Cantrell and his wife, Glenna, of Big Rock, Va.; and her sister-in-law, Terry Johnson and her husband, Larry; as well as several nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Greg Largent. A graveside service will follow in procession to Cooper Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Campbell, Hayden Campbell, Dylan Campbell, Keith Foster, Darrell Edwards and Bill Fuller.
