Betsy Bananas power past Lil Landers, 15-7

Betsy Bananas used a pair of early home runs and a strong offensive showing to defeat Lil Landers 15-7 on Saturday at Lions Field in Elizabethton.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Betsy Bananas responded with six runs in the bottom half and never looked back. The team added six more runs in the second and three in the third to build a commanding lead.

One player hit two inside-the-park home runs and drove in three runs to lead the charge. Another slugger added a two-run homer, and the team racked up 12 hits overall. Betsy Bananas also stole 20 bases and played error-free defense.

The starting pitcher for Betsy Bananas struck out six over two innings, allowing two hits and four runs. Two relievers closed out the game.

Lil Landers tallied 10 walks at the plate and was led by a cleanup hitter who drove in two runs and stole two bases. Star correspondent Ciara Laws was on hand to bring the game in pictures to Star readers.
