Lady Cyclones take first, boys fourth in Early Bird 2025 track meet

Although the track season is off to an early start, Elizabethton High School head track and field coach Matthew Campbell couldn’t be happier with his team.
The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones took first place over 10 other teams, while the Cyclone boys captured fourth place in the Elizabethton High School Early Bird 2025 meet at the Joe LaPorte Track facilities at Elizabethton High School.
In top-five finishes, Chyanne Everett and Naye Muse collected third and fifth, respectively, in the girls 100-meter dash finals as Everett recorded a 13.08 in the event, with Muse clocking a 13.38.
Everett turned around and crossed the finish line in 26.93 to capture second in the girls 200-meter dash.
Happy Valley’s Kaydence Carroll recorded a top-five finish in the girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.29.
Cyclone sophomore Arvella Nave captured a second-place finish in the girls 800-meter run to continue building points for the Lady Cyclones.
Elizabethton’s Helen Hackett brought home a first-place finish in the girls 3,200-meter run, registering a time of 12:41.94.
Hurdles and Relays
In hurdles, junior Camdyn Garland covered the 100-meter hurdles in 16.73 for a second-place finish.
Moving to relays, the Lady Cyclones captured second in the 4×100 with a time of 52.27 and followed that with another second-place finish in the 4×400, clocking 4:28.50.
Field Events
In field events, Garland’s leap of 16-3 was good enough for second place in the girls long jump, just six inches behind Crockett’s Aaliyah Story, who stretched out to 16-9.
Garland wouldn’t be denied in the girls triple jump, as she captured first place with a 33-10 effort. Carroll from Happy Valley was a close second with a leap of 33-6.
The Lady Cyclones had two finishers in the top five of the discus, as Liahna Nave won the event with a heave of 120-10, while Arvella Nave placed third with a toss of 102-0.
In the shot put, Elizabethton took four of the top five spots. Ava Rodgers finished in first place with a toss of 34-6, followed by Jamira Smalls with a throw of 33-1.
Liahna Nave was third with a throw of 32-8, while Garland finished fifth with a toss of 31-1.
Boys Competition
On the boys side, in track events, Happy Valley’s Colby McNabb took fifth place in the boys 100-meter dash before turning around to place fifth in the boys 200-meter dash.
Elizabethton’s Jeremiah Norris finished first in the 400-meter dash, with teammate Jerry Behrmann capturing fifth place. Norris recorded a time of 52.38.
In the boys 110-meter hurdles, Happy Valley’s James Cable finished fifth with a time of 16.91.
The Cyclones finished fifth in the 4×100-meter relay, posting a time of 46.25, with Happy Valley close behind in sixth place.
Boys Field Events
In field events, Cyclones’ Brayden White captured fifth in the boys high jump with a leap of 5-2, while McNabb of Happy Valley collected second place in the long jump with a mark of 20-4.5.
In triple jump action, the Cyclones’ Aedin Vandyke finished second with a jump of 38-4, while Happy Valley’s Jace Winegar placed fifth with a leap of 33-4.
Julian Pate of Happy Valley won the boys pole vault with a vault of 10-6, while Elizabethton’s Colin Miller and Jeremiah Norris took third and fourth place, respectively, with vaults of 8-0 and 7-6.
Landry Buckles and Diesel Russell finished with top-five finishes in the discus, with Buckles taking the top spot with a throw of 162-8 and Russell placing third with a throw of 151-8.
Buckles and Russell also competed in shot put, where Buckles took first place with a throw of 51-3, while Russell finished fifth with a toss of 43-8.
The Warriors finished seventh in boys competition, while the Lady Warriors placed 10th on the girls side.
