Hampton, Happy Valley shine in District 1-AA girls basketball postseason honors

Carter County was well represented when the District 1-AA girls basketball postseason awards were announced, with players from Hampton and Happy Valley earning top honors.
Hampton, the District 1-AA conference champion, placed Ella Eastep, Piper Helle, Faye Carrico, and Hannah Smith on the All-Conference team. Happy Valley’s Cayden Anderson also earned All-Conference honors and was named Defensive Player of the Year for her standout performance.
West Greene’s Morgan Brown was named Player of the Year, while Johnson County’s Mackenzie McClain received Underclassman of the Year honors. West Greene coach Betsy Shaw was selected as Coach of the Year.
In All-Tournament selections, Hampton continued to dominate with Hannah Smith, Faye Carrico, Brea Hicks, and Piper Helle making the list, with Helle earning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Happy Valley’s Cayden Anderson also received All-Tournament recognition.
