Conway Leonard Markland, 85, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Will and Martha Lipps Markland.
Conway served in the United States Army. He was a retired auto mechanic. He loved to read his Bible and cook. He was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sue Markland, who passed away November 19, 2021; a brother, Caldwell Markland; and a sister, Pansy Smith.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Stacy Browning, Chuckey, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Ashton Browning and Cooper Browning; one sister, Nora Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, in the Mountain Home Cemetery (Historic Section) with Pastor Nick Colbaugh officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Hospice Staff at the VA Hospital for the kindness that was shown to him.
