Charles Wade Oliver, 86, of Kingsport, formerly of Watauga, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at The Waters of Kingsport. He was born in Elizabethton to the late Albert Earl and Mary Wright Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 59 years, Freida Stout Oliver; a brother, Warren Oliver; and two sisters, JoAnn Vinson and Nyoka Shelburne.

Charles was always concerned for those around him. He would be sure everyone’s needs were met before his own. Even when his mind deteriorated from Alzheimer’s, his desire to see that everyone around him was served first remained. His determined nature drove him to be the most hard-working man, setting his hand to many entrepreneurial endeavors from owning a car dealership, starting a woodworking business, and real estate. He loved his family and the Lord Jesus with his whole heart.

Those left to cherish his many memories include a daughter, Lisa Oliver Morrell (Nathan) of Kingsport; a son, Victor Oliver (Becky) of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Chance Morrell (Morgan), Amber Morrell Greene (Cody), Jake Oliver (Rebecca) and Paige Oliver Atwell (Coby); nine great-grandchildren, Elijah Greene, Kaylynn Oliver, Azariah Greene, Noah Oliver, Ainsley Morrell, Asher Greene, Anna Greene, Henry Morrell and Roan Atwell; two brothers, Richard Oliver (Phyllis) and Albert Oliver (Patti); one sister, Loretta Pierce (Dean); and many nieces and nephews whom he also loved dearly.

A private viewing for family will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 21, at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. The graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Cody Greene officiating. Active pallbearers will be Chance Morrell, Zack Oliver, Chad Pierce, David Oliver, James Weir and Alan Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Oliver, Albert Oliver, Dean Pierce, Nathan Morrell, Victor Oliver, Jerry Pearman, Junior Stanley and Terry Oliver. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Pleasant Beach Baptist Church, 125 Watauga Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
