Clay Michael Potter, 62, Butler, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, in Kingsport. He was born May 25, 1962 in Johnson City to the late Clay E. and Frances Smith Potter.

Clay was a graduate of Hampton High School. He was a School Bus Driver for Little Milligan Elementary in Carter County and also worked at Elk Mills General Store for many years. He loved to play softball, NASCAR, and watch wrestling.

Clay was a member of Meadow View Baptist Church.

Survivors include two children, Hunter Clay Potter and Samantha Adcox and husband Josh Guy; two grandchildren, Derek Michael Potter and Ellie May Potter; two sisters, Freida Peterson and Sabrina Harris and husband Jason; one brother, Rev. Mark Potter and wife Sandi; the mother of his children, Christy Potter; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 19, in the Buntontown Cemetery, Butler, with the Rev. Gary Bowman officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
