Carl Lynn Burrough, 80, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Hobart and Mamie Chambers Burrough.
Carl was a 1964 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He served two years in the Army during the Vietnam Era.
Carl retired from the Elizabethton Police Department after 30 years of service. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238, a Life Time Member of the American Legion, and a Life Time Member of the Carter County Rescue Squad. Carl was a member and Deacon of First Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Gladys Sluder Burrough, who passed away August 6, 2022, and by 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two brothers, James (Clara) Burrough and Steve (Geneva) Burrough; two sisters, Faye (Bob) Laflamme and Susie Warren; his sister-in-law, Dare Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 12, in the Emmert Cemetery with Dr. David Mills and Mr. Scott Fisher, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, will be Steve Burrough Jr., Terry Barker, Wayne Sluder, Brad Smith, Dr. David Mills and David Shields. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Burrough Sr., Roger Norris, Jack Arnett, Kenny Hardin and John Burrough. Military Honors will be provided. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
