St. John Free Will

St. John Free Will Baptist Church, 178 Old Rock Quarry Road, Roan Mountain, will have a Christmas In The Valley Toy Drive Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. Church members and community residents will pick out gifts for children of Roan Mountain. 

Also, holiday treats will be served.

Borderview Christian

The Adult Choir Ministry of Borderview Christian Church will present the Christmas musical “Silent Night, Holy Night” Sunday, Dec. 8, at 10:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This musical paints a picture of the nativity with songs, both new and familiar. A video presentation during the musical will enhance the 25-voice choir. 

Additionally, a Christmas piano concert will be presented Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. The concert will feature the piano talents of Scott Reynolds and John Banks, local attorney. A variety of Christmas piano solos and duets will focus holiday thoughts on the Christ Child through various Christmas carols.

Borderview Christian is located at 1338 Bristol Highway. Everyone is invited to enjoy these special worship services.

Scott Fisher is the senior minister and Kathy Thomason is the children’s director.

 

First Christian

Sunday worship at First Christian Church Elizabethton will be held at 9:45 a.m. Also, special Wednesday evening services will be held at 6 p.m. during the month of December.

First Christian has a food pantry. Persons needing a food box can call the church office at 542-5651 to make an appointment.

The church is located at 513 Hattie Ave.

Zion Baptist

The Adult Choir of Zion Baptist Church will present the Christmas musical “All Is Well” Sunday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m.

The church is located at 1982 Gap Creek Road.

The pastor is Dr. D. Alan King, who with the congregation, invites the public to attend.

 

Grace Baptist

Grace Baptist Church preschool and elementary departments will present “A Christmas Campfire Sing-Along” Sunday, Dec. 22, at 6 p.m.

A Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held December 24 at 5 p.m. The service will feature carols, a sermon, the Lord’s Supper and candlelight.

The Rev. Travis Tyler is pastor.

 

Lynn Valley Baptist

The Lynn Valley Baptist Church adult choir will present its Christmas cantata at 6 p.m. Dec. 21.

A candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 5:30 p.m. December 24 and a New Year’s Eve Communion Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 31.

The Rev. Tim Tapp is pastor.

 

Unaka Baptist

Unaka Baptist Church will present a Christmas cantata December 15 at 10:45 a.m.

The children will perform a Christmas play Dec. 22 at the evening service after which there will be finger foods and fellowship.

Johnny Fields is the pastor.

 

Sinking Creek Baptist

Sinking Creek Baptist Church will present “A Frontier Christmas” outdoor free walk-through Christmas drama, beginning at the church pavilion. The event will be held Dec. 13 and 14 and Dec. 20 and 21 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Groups start every 20 minutes and last for about one hour.

The pastor, the Rev. Chuck Babb, invites the public to attend.

 

First United Methodist

The public is invited to a Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion Service at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve at First United Methodist Church.

A joint cantata with First Baptist Church, Elizabethton, will be held Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The public is invited.

The pastor is the Rev. Robert Countiss.

 

First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church Elizabethton will have both an online and live worship service Sunday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m.

The pastor, the Rev. Dr. Brian Wyatt, will present the sermon “No Baby, No Problem” based on scripture from Mark 1: 9-17 and Mark 12:45.

Meditation is Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Adult Forum is 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Martin Hall and on Zoom. The church website is fpcelizabethton.com

First Presbyterian is located at 119 West F St.

 

Blue Springs Christian

Upcoming events at Blue Springs Christian Church include a special Christmas program by the children of the church on Dec. 15 at the morning service.The program will be directed by Regina Barkley.

Men of the community are invited to a breakfast in the fellowship hall on Dec. 2 at 8:30 a.m. All men are invited to the breakfast which will include both good food and fellowship.

A Christmas concert with Jamie Jordan will be presented Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. at the church. The musical program will be followed by a time of fellowship with Christmas cookies, coffee, apple cider, and hot chocolate.

Also, a live nativity will be held Dec. 12 and 13 on the Blue Springs Road near the church across from the church sign. This a long standing tradition of the Blue Springs church. Visitors are welcome to drive by or join church members and park in the church parking lot and walk to the scene. Coffee, apple cider, and hot chocolate will be available in the church fellowship hall.

A special Christmas Eve service will be held at 6 p.m on Dec. 24.
