Calvary Baptist

Calvary Baptist Church, 225 Holly Lane, will host a benefit night for the Morris Family on December 1 featuring the Calvary Baptist Praise Team and special invited guests.

Following the music there will be a cake auction and cocoa bar.

Organ, Piano Concert at First U-M

“The Christ Child Is Born,” an organ and piano Christmas concert, will be held Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. at Elizabethton First United Methodist Church.

The concert will feature David Arney, organ; Susan Heaton, piano; and Maki Bayard, cellist.

First United Methodist is located at 325 East E St.

Everyone is invited.

 

First Christian

First Christian Church, Elizabethton, will have worship at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Wednesday night services are at 6 p.m.

Also, First Christian has a food pantry. Persons needing a food box are asked to call the church office at 542-5651 to make an appointment.

First Christian is located at 513 Hattie Ave. The minister is Michael Klaus.

 

First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church, 119 West F St., Elizabethton, will have both an online and live worship service Sunday at the 11 a.m. service.

The pastor, the Rev. Dr. Bryan Wyatt, will present the sermon “Panorama of Faith” based on Matthew 1: 18-25.

Meditation is Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Adult Forum meets at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday in Martin Hall.

Borderview Christian

Borderview Christian Church, 1338 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, will host a Christmas Organ Concert by Scott Reynolds, long-time organist at Borderview, on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. in the beautifully decorated sanctuary.  

The two-manual Allen organ was installed exactly 40 years ago on this date. The repertoire will include arrangements of familiar American and international Christmas carols, which celebrate the birth of Jesus.

The concert is less than one hour and everyone is welcome to start the celebratory month with Christmas organ music.

Additionally, the Adult Choir Ministry of Borderview will present “Silent Night!, Holy Night!” on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 10:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. This musical paints a picture of the nativity with songs, both new and familiar. A video presentation during the musical will enhance the 25-voice choir.  

Everyone is invited to this special worship service. 

Scott Fisher is the senior minister, and Kathy Thomason is the children’s director.

 

Lynn Valley Baptist

The Handbell Choir at Lynn Valley Baptist Church will perform Sunday at 10:15 a.m. 

The Hanging of the Greens will be at 5:30 p.m.

Other holiday services at Lynn Valley include the Christmas cantata by the Adult Choir at 6 p.m. on December 21 and a Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 5:30 p.m. and a New Year’s Communion Service at 5:30 p.m.

The Rev. Tim Tapp is pastor and invites the public to attend.

 

Sinking Creek Baptist

Sinking Creek Baptist will present “A Frontier Christmas,” an outdoor Christmas drama, at the Church Pavilion from 5 to 8 p.m. December 13 and 14 and December 20 and 21.

Groups start every 20 minutes and last about one hour. 

The pastor, Chuck Babb, invites the public to attend.

 

Unaka Baptist

Unaka Baptist Church will have a holiday meal following the morning service on December 8.

The Christmas cantata will be presented Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10:45 a.m. The children will perform a Christmas play December 22 at the evening service. Finger foods and fellowship will follow the play.
