Howard Campbell, 87, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at his residence. Howard was born in Carter County to the late Omar and Lola Ledford Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Beulah “Cookie” Crowe, Mary Alice Chambers, Georgia Duffield and Daylene Cagle, and his brother, Tom Campbell.

Howard had worked as a building contractor for most of his life and had also worked at TriState

Containers before retiring from Sossner Steel Stamping Company in Elizabethton in the maintenance department. He was a member of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Howard enjoyed attending church and singing in the choir and working within the church. He also enjoyed playing guitar.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 66 years, Patsy Timbs Campbell of the home; his daughters, Brenda (Mitchell) Waycaster, Carolyn Allen and Lorrie Campbell; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia (Lee) Price; and a special adopted sister, Angela Campbell.

A service to honor Howard’s life will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Rodney Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the  service.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 21, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Cannon, Travis Cannon, Brandon Lethcoe, Mitchell Waycaster, James Davis and Brandon Waycaster. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Calloway and Joe Estep. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 10:15 AM on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
