The ETSU National Alumni Association invites alumni and friends to ETSU Alumni Arctic Adventures, a series of family-friendly events designed to connect East Tennessee State University alumni throughout the region.

“The ETSU Alumni Summer Series last summer was a big hit, so we have come up with some fun wintertime activities, all centered on an arctic theme,” said Whitney Goetz, executive director of the association. “Attendees to these events will also have an opportunity to pick up a limited-edition Arctic Adventures long-sleeve T-shirt or tote bag.”

Guests are encouraged to pre-register for all events at etsualumni.org/arcticadventures to receive updates on possible weather cancellations and changes.

Cookie Decorating: Nov. 18

The first installment of Arctic Adventures is a festive cookie decorating party today, Monday, Nov. 18. Cookie decorating will take place from 4:15-5:15 p.m. at the Alumni House, located at 908 W. Maple Street, Johnson City. Enjoy cookies, giveaways and cheerful holiday music as you decorate delicious designs with family and friends. Afterward, join the crowd at ETSU Alumni Plaza near the ETSU Foundation Carillon for the annual holiday lights celebration at 5:45 p.m. Register to attend the cookie decorating event and to receive an Arctic Adventures long-sleeve T-shirt at

Alumni Skating Night: Dec. 19

On Thursday, Dec. 19, the ETSU Alumni Association will offer a free night of skating from 5-8 p.m. for ETSU alumni and friends at the synthetic ice-skating rink located on the ETSU Commons. The evening will include a hot cocoa and popcorn bar in ETSU’s D.P. Culp Student Center. Knoxville Ice Bears Hockey Night: Jan. 24

Experience the thrill of hockey and the warmth of nostalgia with ETSU friends at the ETSU Alumni Night at the Knoxville Ice Bears game on Friday, Jan. 24. Gather with your fellow Buccaneers before the game, receive a limited-edition tote bag and then enjoy an evening of hockey and ETSU PRIDE. Purchase tickets from ETSU’s block of reserved seating. Winter Movie at Bud Frank Cinema: Feb. 2

The Alumni Arctic Adventures concludes with an afternoon movie at ETSU’s Bud Frank Cinema in Gilbreath Hall on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. Bring the family and wear your favorite winter pajamas for a free winter-themed movie and popcorn at the only art cinema in the area outside of Asheville, North Carolina.
