March 25, 1956 – October 21, 2024

On Monday, October 21, 2024, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Gerald “Randy” Sears, passed away suddenly at the age of 68 at his home on Scafford Branch Road.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd “Studiebaker” James and Goldie Sims; James Ledford (whom he lived with from age 6 until he married in 1975); his mother, Elizabeth Sims; three sisters, Sandy Sears, Monica Reed and Melina Morton; a very special aunt, Joann Ritchie; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; mother-in-law, Beulah Hyder; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis “Butch” and Carmen Hyder.

Randy was a member of the Church of God. He attended Happy Valley High School and retired from Snap-on Tools in Elizabethton in 2018. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, carpentry, camping, especially at the beach, riding motorcycles, mowing his yard, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda; one daughter, Miranda K. Sears Dockery; three grandchildren, Ambrosia Bennett, Randall Dockery and Aurora Bishop; one brother, Greg Bowling; one sister, Elaine Reynolds; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
