JOHNSON CITY — Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) officers arrested a local man on Nov. 9 following a reported domestic disturbance on Ashley Road.

Sergio Arevalo, 22, of Johnson City, was charged with aggravated assault (domestic) after officers responded to a call shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Ashley Road. According to the JCPD, an investigation revealed that Arevalo and his girlfriend were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. During the incident, Arevalo allegedly strangled the victim and struck her in the head and stomach.

Following the investigation, Arevalo was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
