Mountain Ways extends application deadline in TN and WNC to Nov. 18

Mountain Ways will focus their 2024 initiatives in disaster-declared counties in Tennessee including Cocke, Carter, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi, and Washington. Eligible counties in Western North Carolina include Ashe, Avery, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga, Yancey and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.Mountain Ways is extending its deadline in an effort to reach more survivors who are in need of assistance. Direct financial disaster relief is available through Mountain Ways’ Relief and Recovery initiative to individuals or families (homeowner or renter) with a 100% total loss of their primary residence in the eligible counties, due to the 2024 flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. To apply for assistance, survivors who are eligible should submit an application online at mtnways.org through the deadline on Monday, Nov. 18 at midnight.
Mountain Ways launched its assistance initiatives to support Hurricane Helene flood survivors on Oct. 21 through its online application as the organization’s first step toward helping flood survivors in Tennessee and Western North Carolina.
Plans are underway for the first financial distribution day on Friday, Nov. 15, for Cocke, Hamblen, and Greene counties. The second financial distribution day is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 20, for Carter, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington counties. An invitation letter will be emailed to the primary applicant approved for disaster relief with details.
