Rocky Mount’s Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The festival is where history, culture, and the beauty of fall come together for a day of family-friendly fun. Celebrate the sights, sounds, and smells of the fall season as the staff steps back in time to 1791, recreating the traditions of the Cobb family and their neighbors at the original capital of the Southwest Territory.
Whether you’re a history buff, a family looking for a festive outing, or just in the mood for some seasonal fun, this year’s Harvest Festival has something for everyone. Living history tours of the Cobb farm will be available all day, where you can experience life in the late 18th century. Our talented historical interpreters will guide you through the house and grounds, sharing stories of the people who lived and worked on the frontier.
Throughout the day, enjoy a variety of interactive demonstrations that bring the past to life. Watch our blacksmiths as they forge iron tools, and experience the warmth of the hearth as we demonstrate traditional fireplace cooking. You’ll have the opportunity to stir a fresh batch of apple butter right over the fire or try your hand at pressing fresh apple cider. Additionally, demonstrations of 18th-century trades and crafts, such as weaving and quilting, will be on display, offering a glimpse into the daily skills and activities of the time.
The festival also offers plenty of games and activities for all ages. Children and adults alike can participate in sack races, cornhole, and traditional 18th-century games. We’re expanding our craft activities this year, featuring pumpkin painting, corn shuck dolls, candle making, and Halloween decoration painting.
Feeling hungry? Pack a picnic and enjoy the fresh autumn air on our beautiful 50-acre grounds.
