For properties situated within flood zones, an elevation certificate may be required. To verify if a property falls under these criteria, homeowners should reach out to the Building Department at 423-542-1503.

The city advises that no construction, demolition, or improvements should take place until the Planning/Building Department personnel have assessed the property.
