JCPD investigates deaths of two children; suspect identified

JOHNSON CITY – The Criminal Investigations Division of the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) is investigating the deaths of two young children discovered early Sunday morning in east Johnson City.
On Oct. 29, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a residence where they found a 1-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl unresponsive. Both children were pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsies are being conducted to determine the cause of death.
A suspect has been identified, and charges are pending.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to those affected by this tragedy,” said Capt. Mike Adams. “The JCPD is still in the early stages of this investigation and asks for patience and understanding, as thorough investigations require time. We have no additional details to release at present, but JCPD investigators are committed to sharing updates as soon as they are available.”
The JCPD has not released further information at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
