JOHNSON CITY – Eminent storyteller and actress Megan Wells will perform ghost stories for ages 18 and older on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. in Johnson City Public Library’s Jones Meeting Center.

This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Johnson City Public Library.

Wells’ vast repertoire of spooky stories includes enthralling retellings of works by literary greats like Ray Bradbury and Edgar Allan Poe, as well as local folktales and her own original material.

Wells is a soulful story weaver who breathes life into her characters and creates an intimate space in which her audience is captivated as the story plays out.

With over 40 years of experience as a professional storyteller, Wells has collaborated with orchestras, theaters, museums and schools. Wells said that she is also deeply devoted to libraries, and “delights in sharing stories in the very spaces that hold stories sacred.”

She first fell in love with storytelling after attending the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, where she now performs every few years. Wells was set to appear at this year’s festival, before it was canceled.

Wells is based in northwest Illinois, but said the Appalachian Highlands region holds a special place in her heart. “I love coming to East Tennessee. It is not only the American heart of storytelling, but it is also one of the most beautiful places in our country.”
