The Elizabethton Cyclones have been chomping at the bits to get back onto the gridiron after losing their season opener against non-conference foe Science Hill to open the season. After last week’s contest got canceled due to the weather, it was Grainger that unfortunately would receive the Cyclones’ wrath.
Behind a complete-game effort on both sides of the football, the Cyclones turned the Grizzlies into hamburger with a 57-6 thumping before a fired-up Cyclone fan base.
The Cyclone defense returned two interceptions for scores while registering a safety, and quarterback Rhett Slagle added three passing scores and one on the ground in the route.
