Cyclone Cross Country fares well despite soggy conditions

Despite a stormy Saturday night, the Sully’s Steamers Bluegrass Night Classic at Johnson City’s Civitan Park took place with over 11 high schools participating.
The Elizabethton cross country team had a total of five runners medal, with the girls earning four medals and the boys one.
Vella Nave led the way for the Lady Cyclones, finishing third with a season-best time of 20:23.78.
Two Science Hill runners finished ahead of Nave, with freshman Mercy McGann taking the overall individual medal and teammate Sunny Eorgan claiming second.
Other Lady Cyclone finishers included Helen Hackett (5th), Madeline Isaacs (9th), and Jane Hackett (10th).
The remaining Lady Cyclone results were Jasey Hyatt (12th), Adrian Heading (13th), Ashleigh Hyatt (20th), and Madeline Schumann.
Cooper Chinault was the only Cyclone boy to medal, finishing in seventh place.
William Snodgrass and Cooper Jack also finished in the top 20, with Snodgrass in 13th place and Jack in 20th.
Other Cyclone boy finishers included Louis Trivette (30th), Jacob Jenkins (34th), Joubran El Helou (49th), and Wesley Taylor (50th).
The Cyclones will be back in action at the Fender’s Farm Cross Country Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 14, in Jonesborough.
