Carter County Sheriff’s Office report arrests

The following arrests have been reported by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office:
On Aug. 16, Deputy Jeff Winters took Melissa Dare Cooper into custody from the Sullivan County Detention Center on a violation of probation warrant issued by the Carter County General Sessions Court. Bond was set at $25,000.
On Aug. 16, Sgt. Tyler Holsclaw arrested Robert James Moffitt on a probation violation warrant issued by the U.S. Marshals Service. Moffitt was detained during a traffic stop on Swimming Pool Road and transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
On Aug. 16, Lt. Justin Burchfield met with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office to take Daniel Martin Race into custody. Race was arrested on a Carter County General Sessions Court warrant for four counts of animal cruelty and transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
On Aug. 16, Deputy Jared Shelton responded to a report of a suspicious person on Rittertown Road and identified the individual as Joshua Dean Clawson, who had multiple active warrants. Clawson was apprehended after a foot pursuit and taser deployment. He was charged with evading arrest and transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
On Aug. 17, Deputy Thomas Hill arrested James Joseph Long for driving under the influence after observing his vehicle run off the road on Milligan Highway. Long admitted to drinking and failed to consent to sobriety tests. He was also charged with violation of implied consent.
On Aug. 17, Lt. Justin Johnson stopped a vehicle driven by Derek Anthony Mann, who was arrested for driving under the influence and violation of implied consent after refusing chemical testing. Mann’s vehicle contained open alcohol containers, and a small amount of marijuana was found and secured.
On Aug. 18, Deputy Hunter Skalecki took Michael W. Wiseman into custody on a violation of community corrections warrant. Wiseman was arrested at Sinking Creek Church and transported to the Carter County Jail.
On Aug. 18, Deputy Zach Whaley arrested Rocky A. Bridgeman II at Sycamore Shoals Hospital on an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence. Bridgeman was transported to the Carter County Jail without incident.
On Aug. 17, inmate Crystal K. Jones was found to have an active hold from Avery County, North Carolina, for charges including possession of methamphetamine and probation violation. Jones is being charged as a fugitive from justice and will appear in court.
On Aug. 18, Lt. Justin Burchfield arrested Carrie Ann Richardson on Clawson Road after a traffic stop. Richardson had an active warrant for failure to appear issued by the Carter County Juvenile Court.
On Aug. 19, Deputy Jeremiah Bartlett arrested Rebecca Anna Sue Clawson on charges of criminal trespass and vandalism after she was found on a property on Stuarts Street against the property owner’s wishes. Clawson had previously been warned not to return.
On Aug. 20, Shayla L. Keefer turned herself in to the Carter County Detention Center on a warrant for violation of probation. She was arrested without incident.
On Aug. 21, Sgt. Holsclaw arrested Jalyn B. Gill on a warrant for theft of property up to $1,000. Gill was identified as the suspect in a recent theft incident and was stopped on W. Elk Ave.
On Aug. 21, Robert Michael Carberry turned himself in to the Carter County Detention Center on a warrant for failure to appear. He was arrested without incident.
On Aug. 22, Deputies Jerry Dykes, Zach Whaley, and S. Scalf arrested Kristopher Michael Collins on a violation of probation warrant. Collins was found at 898 Gap Creek Road. During the arrest, deputies also discovered Calen Sinclair, who had an active warrant out of Washington County. Both individuals were taken into custody.
On Aug. 22, Sgt. Tyler Holsclaw arrested Jerry Wayne Holdren for an active burglary warrant out of Johnson City. Christopher D. McClellan, also present, was arrested on two probation violation warrants. Both men were taken into custody and transported without incident.
On Aug. 22, Deputy Jeremiah Bartlett arrested Brittany Kay Turbyfill for criminal trespassing after finding her camping on private property on Buck Mountain Road. Turbyfill had previously been warned not to return to the property.
On Aug. 22, Sgt. Tyler Holsclaw arrested Robert Warren Eschenbacher for public intoxication and disorderly conduct at 158 Spring St. Eschenbacher was intoxicated and causing a disturbance, prompting neighbors to call authorities.
On Aug. 22, Lt. Justin Burchfield arrested Savanna Leigh Cable at the Traveler’s Inn on warrants for failure to appear and probation violation. Cable was transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.
