Sandra Gail Russell Roberts, 76, Hampton, passed away August 13, 2024, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Ephron and Retta Russell.
Sandra was a member of Pearce Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was just one of 12 siblings. Sandra lived her whole life in Carter County, where she married Steve William Humphrey. They were married for 20 years until his passing. They had five children.
Then she married Anthony Roberts and was married for 20 plus years till his passing. Anyone who knew her knew she was a kind, loving soul and was just a joy to be around. She’ll be dearly missed by those left to cherish her memories.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Steve William Humphrey and Anthony Roberts; her daughters, Teresa Shipley and Stephanie Humphrey; grandchildren, David Alan Carr, Nikki Lloyd and Allen James “AJ” Humphrey; her sisters, Janet Hill, Arlene Honeycutt, Susie Whitehead and Brenda Sheets; and brothers, Richard, Jason, Lewis, James and Delmar Russell.
Survivors include her sisters, Marie Blevins and Frankie Whitehead, along with several nieces and nephews; her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Tonia, Roy and Apryle and Dewayne and Amanda Humphrey of Hampton; stepdaughter, Jennifer Roberts; and her many grandchildren, Maria Hernandez, Alfie Humphrey (Jodie), Rusty (Sage) Humphrey, Tony (Shellcie) Silvers, Alesha (Chris) Shumate, Katrina Sheppard, Derrick Sheppard, Kelly Humphrey, Kimberly (John) Gobble, Dusty (Hayley) Humphrey, Titus Humphrey and Mara Humphrey, Brian Roberts, Ashley, Samuel, Justin, Kelly and Kelsey (Mike) McCoy. Several great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law that she loved very much also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Largent officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyons Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and aides, 3rd Floor, Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday.
