Debra Lynn Proffitt Adams, 63, Butler, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness. She was born May 11, 1961 in Elizabethton to the late Marvin Proffitt and Margie Vines Greer.
Debra was a homemaker. She loved to go shopping. She was a member of Piercetown Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Adams; her son, William Shane “Grasshopper” Adams; and one brother, Eddie Greer.
Survivors include two aunts, Carolyn Presnell and Dorothy Keller; a nephew, Bill Wilson and wife Stephanie and son Ethan; one brother, Jeff Greer; and her four legged furry friend, “Buddy.”
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Phillips officiating. Music will be by Torainna Hensley. Interment will follow in the Butler Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ray Potter, Brian Campbell, Mike Reece, John David Pierce, John McEwen and Sam McEwen. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Baumgardner, Eric Matherly and Rick Reece. The family would like to express a special thank you to DeEtta Hampton and her caregivers, Angie Reece and Crickett Bunton, for the love and compassion shown to her. Also, thank you to the staff at Mountain City Care Center for the love and care they gave to Debbie during her stay there.
