Arrests reported by Elizabethton Police Department

The following arrests have been reported by the Elizabethton Police Department:
- On July 30, Officer Matthew Goldberg responded to a report of a suspicious person at 1253 Bluefield Ave. The caller reported a bald, older white male attempting to pick a lock. Captain Johnson apprehended Jason David Church, who admitted to using methamphetamines earlier that day. Church exhibited erratic behavior and was arrested for public intoxication. He also confessed to attempting to enter an apartment using keys and a belt buckle prong, leading to a charge of aggravated criminal trespass. Church was transported to the Carter County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in Carter County General Sessions Court on August 19 at 9 a.m.
- On July 30, Cpl. Kurt Kemp was dispatched to the Sunoco at 1258 Milligan Hwy. in response to harassment complaints. The reporting party described a white male, blonde with a ponytail, wearing glasses and a red tank top, who had been chasing and yelling at women. CPT Johnson located the suspect, Travis Lee Mermon, at 1420 Milligan Hwy. Mermon admitted to attempting to enter a vehicle and causing a disturbance. Mermon resisted arrest, resulting in the use of a Freeze+P Chemical Agent to subdue him. He was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest.
- On July 27, Officer Mitchell Tolley conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Black GMC Envoy for having only one functioning red brake light. The driver, Ashley Nichole Trent, was found to have a suspended license for failure to appear in court. Trent was issued citations for failing to have two red stoplights and driving on a suspended license (first offense). She is scheduled to appear in Carter County General Sessions Court on August 19 at 9 a.m.
