The following arrests have been reported by the Elizabethton Police Department:

• On July 27, Officer Mitchell Tolley observed a 2004 Black GMC Envoy with non-functioning brake lights on West Elk Avenue. A traffic stop at the Travelers Inn revealed the driver, Ashley Nichole Trent, had a suspended Tennessee driver’s license due to failure to appear in court. Trent’s license was seized, and she was issued citations for having faulty brake lights and driving on a suspended license. She was given a receipt for her license.
• On July 26, Officer Ryan Manuel responded to a report of an attempted vehicle burglary around the 1600 block of West G Street. A resident reported that Kim Crawford Smithdeal had entered her yard and attempted to access her vehicle despite a no-trespassing sign. Smithdeal, who was found at her residence, claimed she was following friends. Smithdeal was issued a criminal summons for trespassing. During the encounter, officers noted Smithdeal’s injuries and transported her to Sycamore Shoals Hospital for evaluation.
• On July 26, Cpl. Spencer Ward investigated a suspicious person around the 700 block of South Sycamore Street. The subject, initially identified as Travis Turbyfill, later revealed his true identity as Travis Wayne Scronce. Scronce had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. He was arrested and transported to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office. 
• On July 21, Officer Matthew Goldberg stopped Byron Malone Taylor after observing illegal maneuvers and detecting odors of marijuana and alcohol. Taylor admitted to consuming alcohol and having marijuana in the vehicle. A search revealed an open container of beer and approximately 10 grams of marijuana. Taylor, who was also driving on a suspended license, was charged with multiple offenses including driving on suspended license (second offense or more), drug paraphernalia, open container, and reckless driving.
• On July 20, Officer James Deese responded to South Lynn Avenue regarding a woman, later identified as Kendra Michelle Harris, causing a disturbance and yelling in the street. Harris, who admitted to using methamphetamine earlier, was non-compliant with officers’ orders. She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
