JB Ellis, 89, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Banner Elk, N.C., to the late James Brady Ellis and Guessie Perkins Ellis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Birchfield, and a brother, Gary Ellis.

JB was a graduate of Cloudland High School and was a United States Veteran, having served in the Marines. He retired from Branch Motor Express, working as a truck driver. He never met a stranger and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

JB was a member of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church where he was in charge of overseeing the building of the new Lower Shell Creek Christian Church. He loved his church, community and his family very much.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nan Ellis, of the home; two daughters, Pam Ellis and Billy Stephenson of Roan Mountain and Kim Ellis of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jager and Rockett of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Sammie Joe Ellis of Roan Mountain; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a memorial service to honor the life of JB at noon on Saturday, June 15, at Lower Shell Creek Christian Church with Mr. Gerald Holly, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 11 a.m. and noon prior to the memorial service. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Lower Shell Creek Christian Church, 8726 US-19E, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
