JOHNSON CITY — The Salvation Army of Johnson City is pleased to announce the appointment of Majors R.C. Duskin and Maureen Diffley as the new corps officers, effective Monday, June 17.

Majors Duskin and Diffley arrive from their previous post in Grand Rapids, Mich. The public is invited to attend their Welcome Sunday service on June 23 at 11 a.m. at the corps, located at 204 West Walnut in Johnson City.

Major R.C. Duskin, who comes from a family of Salvation Army officers, has an extensive background in international missions and financial oversight. Before being commissioned in 2005, he participated in mission trips to Chile, Zambia, and Ukraine. He has also overseen finances in the Republic of Georgia, served at the training institute for Eastern European officers in Finland, and held various corps roles in Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Michigan. Major Duskin holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Major Maureen Diffley, also commissioned in 2005, has a rich history in outreach ministry. Her past roles include street outreach, church planting, and HIV/AIDS services in southern Russia, as well as logistics and program oversight in Ukraine. She has also served in Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia. Major Diffley holds a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and an MA in Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary.

“We’re excited to return to East Tennessee together,” said Major Diffley. “Our priorities in Johnson City will be stabilizing social services, completing the VA shelter building, and sharing God’s Word and the love of Jesus.”

The couple, who have five children, expressed their enthusiasm for the new appointment. “After serving across Eastern Europe and in various locations in the U.S., we look forward to new ministry opportunities in this beautiful region,” said Major Duskin.

Major Diffley, who previously served in Memphis and Maryville, added, “The volunteer spirit across Tennessee is tremendous. We hope Johnson City residents will engage enthusiastically with The Salvation Army’s mission.”
