The tournament was named after William B. Greene Jr., who has supported the tournament since its inception. Carter County Bank has been the title sponsor since its birth in 1995.

“We are tickled to death and ecstatic to be back,” said Mike Matheson, Tournament Director. “The golf course is good and these guys have done a fantastic job of getting it ready. It takes a lot of people to make this thing work and I have people that are second to none.

“We want this to be the best tournament around. I have said many times this about the players. We have always had a great field and we have some returning past champions.”

A TGA state points event for Regular and Senior Championships, the tournament has three flight options for players: Championship – Stroke Play, Flight – Match Play, and Senior Flights – Stroke Play.

Entry fee for the tournament is $135 for EMGC Members and $185 for Non-EMGC Members. Jackson Skeen was the last champion of the tournament in 2022.

Matheson spoke about the importance of the tournament to those who have played in past years.

“I didn’t realize how important this tournament was to a lot of people until we had to cancel it,” said Matheson. “I am just glad it’s back.”

“A lot of people come here because of Mike,” said Carter County Bank President Andrew McKeehan. “At the bank, we try to treat all of our customers like family and this is a family tournament. Mike does a fantastic job of running this tournament.”
