The recipient of the 2023-2024 Maggie Crosby Tetrick Diversity in Leadership Scholarship is Caroline Price, a new graduate of Elizabethton High School (EHS). Caroline is the daughter of Noel and Amy Price.

Caroline demonstrated academic excellence and a passion for healthcare during her time at EHS. She was active in several organizations at EHS including Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Student Government Association, National Honor Society, and Key Club. Through her pursuits in HOSA, Caroline completed coursework at EHS which allowed her to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She did this all while maintaining an impressive academic GPA of 4.1.

Throughout her time at EHS, Caroline held herself to the highest academic standards and demonstrated strong work ethic, motivation, and dedication, according to her instructors. Caroline is much loved by her academic mentors and came highly recommended by her HOSA instructor, Katie Dugger.

Caroline has a passion for volunteering in efforts to support local families and children, as noted by her work with Ballad Health Camp Firefly, Toys for Tots, and Ronald McDonald House. She plans to attend East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in the fall where she will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with hopes to work in an Emergency Department due to her love of fast-paced healthcare provision.

The Maggie Crosby Tetrick Diversity in Leadership Scholarship was established to honor and recognize children of diverse backgrounds, particularly historically underrepresented students who have demonstrated academic integrity and strong leadership skills. Students must also be recommended by a teacher and/or academic advisor as a student who demonstrates excellence in all academic aspects.

The Crosby-Tetrick family is passionate about sharing the message of diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in order to create well-balanced leadership within communities. “Caroline encompasses all that the Diversity in Leadership scholarship represents, and she has ambitions to pursue a career in healthcare in order to positively impact the lives of others. She has the skills and knowledge that it takes as a leader and has intentions of growing into leadership roles throughout her educational journey. Caroline submitted an impressive essay demonstrating her social awareness of the impact of disparities on mental health and well-being, which solidified her becoming the recipient of this year’s scholarship,” states Ashley Tetrick, mother of Maggie Crosby Tetrick, for whom the scholarship is named. Recipients of this scholarship are also honored with a plaque which is displayed at Elizabethton High School.

This year’s scholarship was presented by Lexi Lopez, the inaugural recipient of the Maggie Crosby Tetrick Diversity in Leadership Scholarship.
