November 15, 2007 – March 14, 2024
On Thursday, March 14, 2024, our loving son and brother, Landon Scott LaVoie, changed positions at the age of 16.
Landon was his dad’s “fishing buddy”, always competing for the biggest catch. His mom was his biggest fan, and he was proud to call her “the band mom”. Landon loved special dates with his mom and tinkering on projects with his dad. Playing pool with his brother and sister always made him happy. Landon enjoyed camping, swimming and spending time with his sister at the lake. He enjoyed going on “his ventures” and making memories with his Mamaw. Landon was free on his roller skates and loved to be near the ocean on his boogey board where he could surf the waves (cowabunga).
Landon was a Sophomore at Elizabethton High School where he loved and thrived as part of the back-to-back state championship Betsy Band. While playing saxophone was a love, the Betsy Band became family and an immeasurable joy. Landon (Lando to his friends) excelled in music in every way. He could play piano, drums, guitar and was teaching himself trumpet and slide trombone. He loved riding his dirt bike, doing doughnuts on his 4-wheeler, playing airsoft and fishing with his friends.
Landon was fearless, loving and kind with an adventurous spirit and an enormous heart that he shared generously with all who he encountered. He was one of a kind and left an imprint on all he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of us all.
Landon leaves behind his parents, Scott and Bettina LaVoie; big sister, Chelsey; brother, Daniel Dover; Mamaw, Clara Hawkins; uncle, Michael Hawkins and wife Jessi; aunt, Regenia Skinner; special nieces, Addison and Kaylen Dover; and several cousins, dear friends and loved ones.
We love you more than you know, and we never gave up. This is not a goodbye, but only a see you later.
A memorial service for Landon will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday, March 22, in the Gymnasium of Elizabethton High School, 907 Jason Witten Way, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Community donations are welcomed with gratitude by the family to assist with final expenditures. Donations can be made directly to Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services, 101 East F Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
