Mrs. Betty Lois Carden, 85, of Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at her home. She was born on July 29, 1938 to her parents, Oliver Charlie and Neva
Taylor Champion. She was a Carter County native.
Betty was an active and faithful member of Bible Baptist Church. She loved attending church and worshiping the Lord. She was a wonderful and kind lady who loved spending her time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Leroy Carden; a sister, Evalena Meredith; and a brother, Ralph Champion.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Lori Parker and husband Roger Parker; five grandchildren, Jessica Holtsclaw, Jennifer Holtsclaw, Matthew Holtsclaw, Nicholaus Parker and Allen Parker; and four great-grandchildren, Sandy, Kaylee, Bentley and Andrea. Two nieces and a nephew also survive.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church. The family will receive friends at the church between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Ensor Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 3:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
