Hazel I. Clemons, 85, Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Hermitage Health Center. She was a native of Carter County.

Mrs. Clemons was retired from Happy Valley High School, where she taught 10th Grade English. She was a member of East River Park Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Dailey and Helen Irick; and one brother, Vernon Irick. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Coy Roger Clemons; four sons, Scott (Devona) Clemons of Johnson City, Tenn., Thomas Clemons, Tracy (Dawn) Clemons and Marc (Leann) Clemons, all of Elizabethton, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Destanie (Ryan) Sweeney, Anjolee Clemons, Derick Clemons and Nicholas Clemons; one great-grandchild, Arthur Sweeney; and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends and family may register their presence at Memorial Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Justin Stauffer, Elder, East River Park Christian Church, officiating. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, to go in procession to the cemetery.
