JOHNSON CITY – On February 26, Johnson City Police Department officers arrested Travis Staten, 33, of Jonesborough, on multiple charges including Schedule I drug violation, drug paraphernalia possession, driving on a suspended license (first offense), and unlawful removal of a registration plate.
The arrest followed a traffic stop conducted by officers shortly after 11 p.m. During the stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana emanating from Staten’s vehicle and subsequently requested permission to search the vehicle. Upon conducting the search, officers discovered drug paraphernalia, a substance believed to be marijuana, and a brown substance consistent with heroin.
Staten was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
