JOHNSON CITY — Shannon Chandler, 48, of Johnson City, was arrested by investigators with the Johnson City Police Department on Feb. 2. He faces charges of rape of a child and solicitation of a minor.
Chandler was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
The arrest follows an investigation conducted by the JCPD’s new Special Victims Unit (SVU), established earlier this year to enhance support for victims of sexual crimes.
Authorities encourage individuals who have been sexually assaulted to promptly contact law enforcement by dialing 911. Additionally, victims can seek assistance from the Johnson City / Washington County Family Justice Center by reaching out to a victim advocate at 423-722-3720.
