The following arrests have been reported by the Elizabethton Police Department:
On January 11, Sgt. Eric Buck of the Elizabethton Police Department responded to Highway 67 regarding a report of a male subject possibly intoxicated and staggering into traffic. Joseph Anthony Nickles was found near the Greenlee Bridge exhibiting signs of intoxication, including unsteadiness on his feet and profuse sweating. Nickles admitted to recent methamphetamine use and performed poorly on sobriety tests. He was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Carter County Detention Center.

On January 11, Cpl. Tim Garland responded to North Roan Street for a welfare check on a female who had passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. Karen Renee Vandyke was found unconscious in a Honda Civic with signs of intoxication. Vandyke, already revoked for DUI, failed sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI (second offense), driving on revoked/suspended license, possession of Scheduled V, and violation of implied consent.

On January 11, Officer Hayden Holtsclaw responded to McDonald’s at 215 Broad St., for an unwanted guest. Donna M. Roark refused to leave the premises and became argumentative. Roark was arrested for criminal trespass and transported to jail.

On January 12, Cpl. Jason Mosier observed Michelle Lynn Miller speeding in a school zone. Miller’s license was suspended, and she was cited for driving while suspended and speeding.

On January 12, Officer Rocky Croy responded to Broad Street regarding a possibly intoxicated male, Michael Joe Woodby. Woodby exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested for public intoxication.

On January 13, Patrol Officer Chazz Hughes found Mitcheal Eugene Hensley asleep in a Toyota Tacoma on Broad Street. Hensley, who had an active warrant, was found in possession of methamphetamine and syringes. He was arrested, and narcotics investigators took over the case.

On January 13, Officer Spencer Ward stopped Jefferey L. Foister for a broken taillight. Foister’s license was suspended, and he was cited for driving on suspended and failure to have two red tail lights.

On January 14, Officer Spencer Ward stopped Richard William Oatman for expired registration and taillights projecting amber light. Oatman lacked a valid driver’s license and was cited for no driver’s license, financial responsibility, failure to have two red tail lights, and expired registration.

On January 17, Officer Ryan Manuel arrested Richard W. Oatman for driving with no tail lights. Oatman, a repeat offender with pending charges and a failure to appear warrant, was taken into custody for no driver’s license and failure to have two red tail lights on vehicle.
