On Friday night at Bayless gymnasium the Hampton Bulldogs raised their conference record to 4-2 with a series sweep over Happy Valley. The Bulldogs (11-9 overall) took a 75-45 victory over the Happy Valley Warriors.
Senior guard Michael Anspaugh scored a game high 20 points, connecting on five trey’s and head coach Ned Smith had praise for his shooting guard saying, “Anspaugh had a great shooting night and had a complete game overall. We showed good depth and we had 30 rebounds. We rebounded well and shared the ball well.”
Happy Valley (6-16 overall, 2-5 conference) kept it close through the first period trailing by 19-13 but the Bulldogs opened up the throttle in the second period to take a 45-21 halftime lead.
“We just played good defense, blocked out on the boards and rebounded good,” Anspaugh said. “The coaches are always on us to press their eyes out and that’s what we did. We still have more work to do.”
Hampton continued to dominate through three quarters with a 67-29 advantage going into the fourth quarter and cruised to the win. Hayden Campbell scored 15 points for the ‘Dogs with Geno Carrico adding 14.
For HV, T.J. Good led the way with 15 points with Dylan Furr adding 11.

The Lady Bulldogs got scoring contributions from eight players with point guard Piper Helle scoring a team high 10 points.
“A win is a win, especially in conference games,” Lady Bulldogs head coach Dewayne Humphrey said. “Every night we have to come ready to play and an ugly win is better than a pretty loss.”
Hampton held a 23-15 halftime advantage and despite some poor shooting extended to 33-21 going into the final stanza. The ‘Dogs opened a 36-26 lead in the fourth period after a Macy Henry deuce and senior post Taylor Berry hitting a deuce and Helle draining a trey for the last basket of the contest.
Ella Estep finished with eight points for Hampton with Faye Carrico adding seven. Marcida Moore led all scorers with 15 points for the Lady Warriors and Cayden Anderson finished with six points
