The following arrests have been reported by the Elizabethton Police Department:
Public Intoxication Arrest on South Watauga Ave.: On Sunday, Dec. 17, Officer Spencer Ward responded to a call on South Watauga Avenue regarding an individual lying in the grass. Upon arrival, Michael Joe Woodby was found heavily intoxicated, displaying slurred speech, and was observed with an unopened bottle of vodka in his possession. Following a field sobriety test that confirmed his inebriation, Woodby was arrested for public intoxication. He was safely transported to the CCSO.
Drug Violations and Paraphernalia Arrest at Papa Johns: Officer Samuel Woodby was dispatched to Papa Johns at 133 West Elk Ave. in response to a suspicious vehicle repeatedly entering and leaving the parking lot. On arrival, Rusty Adam White was identified as the driver of a dark blue Volvo and questioned about his multiple visits. During interaction, an odor of marijuana was detected, leading to a search where marijuana weighing approximately 34 grams and suboxone pills were discovered in White’s possession along with drug paraphernalia. White was arrested for drug paraphernalia, Schedule III and VI drug violations, and transported to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.
Public Intoxication Arrest at 1161 Hwy. 19E (CVS): Responding to a 9-1-1 hang-up at CVS on 1161 Hwy. 19E, Officer Nicholas Kerns encountered Burnice Carroll Mchone on the Tweetsie Trail behind the store. Mchone displayed heavily slurred speech and was found in possession of Taaka (vodka). Due to his highly intoxicated state and disorderly behavior, Mchone was arrested for public intoxication and taken into custody, later transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
