JOHNSON CITY – Joseph Davis, a 21-year-old resident of Johnson City, was apprehended by officers from the Johnson City Police Department on December 14, charged with child abuse and neglect.
The arrest follows an incident that unfolded around 1:15 p.m. on the aforementioned date when officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on E. Pine Street. Reports indicated an altercation between Davis and his girlfriend, prompting the woman to depart the premises. Davis, left in charge of the woman’s 1-year-old child, reportedly sent her a photo showing the child alone outside in chilly weather. Subsequent investigations revealed Davis had intentionally left the child outside, purportedly as an act of retaliation against the woman following their dispute.
Davis is currently held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for December 15 at 9:30 a.m. in Washington County General Sessions Court.
