Angela Inez Grindstaff Stonecipher, 57, Elizabethton, godly mother, teacher and friend, blessed and highly favored, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the home of a son, Nate, and daughter-in-law, surrounded by her family. She was born May 25, 1966 in Morganton, N.C.
Angela was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, attended East Tennessee State University and received her Masters in Education from Milligan University. She was a school teacher, having taught at Hampton Elementary, and was presently teaching at Valley Forge Elementary School. She was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church but attended East Fairview Free Will Baptist Church, to support her father, Pastor Carl Grindstaff. Angela always loved to help others.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Jane Blackburn Grindstaff, and a brother, Gene Grindstaff.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Lee Stonecipher; five children, Nathanael (Emilee) Stonecipher, Butler, Andrew (Ann) Stonecipher, Telford, Hannah Stonecipher, Johnson City, Mason Blackwell, Telford, and McKenzie Blackwell, Elizabethton; her father, Pastor Carl Grindstaff, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Ethney, Natilee, Ruby, Wyett, Athena, Anastsia and Abram; two sisters, Shelia Duncan and Jenny (Bob) Townsend; and one brother, Jonathan (Sharay) Grindstaff.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Angela will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 16, in the Valley Forge Elementary School Gymnasium with Pastor Brandon Young officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Forge Elementary School. Honorary pallbearers will be the faculty and students of Valley Forge Elementary School. The family would like to express a special thank you to Pastor Brandon Young and her fellow teacher friends for all the support and prayers during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or you may bring canned goods to the school which will be given to Second Harvest Food Bank in her memory.
