Several Christmas performances are scheduled during December at the Bonnie Kate Theater in downtown Elizabethton. Among them are the cinemas “Miracle on 34th Street” and
“It’s A Wonderful Life.” The admittance fee to both is $5.
“Miracle on 34th Street” will be presented Dec. 9 from 8 to 10 p.m.
After a divorced New York mother hires a nice old man to play Santa Claus at Macy’s, she is startled by his claim to be the genuine article. When his sanity is questioned, a lawyer defends him in court by arguing that he’s not mistaken.
The show features Maureen O’Hara and John Payne.
Coming up Dec. 14 at the Bonnie Kate is the all-time Christmas favorite “It’s a Wonderful Life,” in which an angel is sent from Heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” stars James Stewart and Donna Reed.
Coming up Friday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. is music by Samantha Gray. Samantha’s unique voice has been described as soulful, sultry, and powerful. She is also known for her retro style and her high-energy, hip shaking performances which really captures her audiences.
Melding the influences of blues, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll, she combines these influences into her own brand of blues music.
Sunday, Dec. 17, at 3 p.m. at the Bonnie Kate, Urban Grace Dance of Roan Mountain and Shellshead Ballet will present an Afternoon of Dance.
The students of Shellshead Ballet will perform excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite titled “Land of the Sweets.”
The students of Urban Grace Dance will present “Dance of the Nativity,” an account of Jesus’ birth told through dance.
A spectacular combination of timeless holiday stories told within the genres of Ballet, Hiphop, Contemporary, Jazz and Tap. Artistic Directors, Katrina Locklin and Eva Hunter, wish for this performance to be a gift to the community and hope families will attend this performance as part of their holiday celebrations.
