Karen Ann Bedwell Goodwin, 79, Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at her residence. She was born June 8, 1944 in Edwardsport, Ind., to the late Doyle and Mable Newkirk Bedwell. She had lived in Elizabethton for a number of years.
Karen was a retired Registered Nurse and worked for Mountain States Health Alliance until her retirement in 2014. She was a graduate of Vincennes University and King College.
Karen was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church. She was a prolific reader, and loved to cook and crochet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Franklin “Frank” Goodwin; her brothers, Claude Bedwell, Gary Bedwell and Jack Bedwell; and a sister, Margaret Ellen Bedwell.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, the Honorable James F. Goodwin Jr. and Krisna Goodwin of Blountville. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Frances Goodwin of Elizabethton, John and Couliette Goodwin of Chilhowie, Va., Judy Goodwin of Elizabethton, and Betty Bedwell of Bloomington, Ind., and many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Karen Goodwin will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steven Nauman Jr. officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces, nephews, and church family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
