Richard A. Johnson departed for his Heavenly home on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
Richard was a Roan Mountain native and a 1960 graduate of Cloudland High School. After graduation, he enlisted with the United States Air Force. Upon leaving the Air Force, Richard went to work at Eastman Chemical Company where he worked for 31 years before retiring.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR and westerns. He was a member of the Elizabethton/ Carter County Hunting and Fishing Club.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Selma Johnson; his sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Jay Ashley; and two granddaughters, Jerad Van Dyke and Ashley Way.
Those left to remember and cherish Richard’s memory include his loving wife, Ellen Johnson; his son, Marty Johnson; his daughters, Marsha West, Teri Larkin, Missy Austin and Rhonda Morrell and husband John; and his nephew, Graylin Ashley. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Services will be private. Honorary pallbearers are Fred and Sandy Hyder, Joe and Charlotte Miller, Bill Grant, Andy and Betty Edwards, Cloudland Class of 1960, Elizabethton/ Carter County Hunting and Fishing Club members and all the special neighbors on Sunny Acres.
