With home field advantage and a region title hanging in the balance, the Greeneville Greene Devils dished out a slice of humble pie to the Elizabethton Cyclones who were celebrating Senior Night.

After a defensive battle throughout, the Greene Devils hung 10 points on the board in the 4th quarter after the Cyclones tied the contest at 13-13 with 9:06 to play in the game. A Carson Quillen 79-yard touchdown run after freshman Will Bowers tied the game on a 42-yard field goal was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The Cyclones will host Knox Carter next Friday at Citizens Bank Stadium with a 7 pm kickoff. More on the Cyclones and Greene Devils game in Wednesday’s Star.

Dom Burleson rushed for 212 yards and helped Hampton overcome a 7-6 halftime deficit as the Bulldogs won 32-14. Burleson scored a pair of touchdowns on a one-yard run and a 45-yard fumble return. Senior QB Dylan Trivett rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown as well as a two-point conversion. Hampton (8-2, 5-0 conference) won the Mountain East Conference outright.

Happy Valley secured a home playoff game, marking their first since 2016, with a 38-28 victory over West Greene. The Warriors showcased a potent rushing attack, starting with a 2-yard touchdown run by Joe Sowards and a Tyler Berry 2-point conversion, giving them an 8-0 lead. They continued their dominance, with Aiden Paul adding a 7-yard touchdown run and another 2-point conversion, extending the lead to 16-0.

West Greene got on the scoreboard when Wyatt Moody recovered his fumble in the endzone, cutting the deficit to 16-6. Happy Valley responded strongly, fueled by Austin Nichols’ 34-yard reception, culminating in a 22-yard TD run to make it 22-6.

The Warriors will host the Oneida Indians in the playoffs.
